Chalkidiki is located in Central Macedonia and is comprised from its main land and three peninsulas that dive into the Aegean Sea. Greeks call those peninsulas «legs» because of
their shape. From left to right, the first peninsula is called Kassandra, the second Sithonia and the third Mount Athos. The autonomous Mount Athos region is part of the peninsula, but not of the regional unit.
